The evoluation of the back deck

Its officially SUMMER in Chicago!!  We are having so much fun at all the splash parks, city pools and beaches but the biggest update this summer is our back deck - or as we call it our "yard."

It started with some toys I got for $20 dollars off craiglists.  Big hit for Will.

Then it got really hot one day in March and I added a tub from my under my bed with shoes it in.  Even bigger hit!

Then we finally ordered the water table Will got from Grandma and Grandpa Harvey for his 1st birthday.  HUGE hit.  Will was in heaven will all those toys and water.  All that play gets a boy hungry!

When Wills best bud Liam came over to play we realized we needed one more thing to protect the little boys from splinters.

Next up it was operation TURF!!!  We did a TINY bit of research and decided we (Will and I) would head out to Home Depot and get it done and ready for the weekend of fun!

Final addition was a $5 dollar baby pool!

So for under $200 dollars we have an awesome play yard.  Will is having tons of fun splashing around and having his buds up to party.  Summer in the city - Pope Style :)

Mickey you play soccer ball?

When my cousins Dylan was little he went to Disney and went up to Mickey Mouse and asked "Hey Mickey, do you play soccer ball?"  That is the line that keeps going through my head when I look at these pictures of our little soccer player!  Cousin Jamesy sent these all the way from Ireland!!!  So cool.  Thanks Jamesy - can't wait to play soccer ball with you when you come home.  Love Will

I have said this a million times but I really REALLY hit the jackpot by living next to some of the most amazing neighbors.  On Wednesday I had a doctors appointment and I knew it was going to take a while so having Will in the office was not going to be ideal.  So I asked Emily if she would watch Will.  Of course she said YES and I just love that fact that we have each other for emergencies or just a break if we need to get something done.  When I dropped Will off Liam was still sleeping but he managed to fine his way to the toys with little interest that I was leaving.  HAHA.  It pretty much is his second home over there anyway.

While waiting at the doctors office I was dying over all the pictures Emily kept sending me.  Here is a recap of Will's afternoon with his bestie Liam and Auntie Em.

The Popes Visit New Mexico

The three of us were so excited to go to New Mexico to see Jason's Family.  It was going to be a short trip but short was better then nothing!  We had a minor bump in the road the day before we were supposed to leave - Little bud came down with a fever.  I put him to bed Thursday night hoping he would wake up Friday with the pep back in his step but that was not the case.  4am and Will was not doing good.  Fever was up and he was sad :(.  After a flight change, doctor visit we decided we were going to make the journey.

Our flight to NM went well....not awesome.  Poor little bud was not feeling well, was super tired and just wanted to get to sleep.  He managed to get comfortable on daddy for a little bit.  Jason looks pretty tired here too! HAHA

Once we arrived in New Mexico and get to the house we all took a deep breathe and couldn't wait to see everyone in the morning.  I was amazed at how beautiful all the sky lines were!!  We got to have a fun trip to the park the next day.

The big birthday party was on Saturday.  80 years young for his Nannie and Papa.  Will loved meeting his cousins - Austin (13), Carter (11) and Avery (7).  They were so sweet!

Will spent a good portion of the day sitting on Austin's lap.  He still wasn't feeling well so he loved just sitting there and watching the party.  When Will would fuss a little Austin was so cute and would bring out his phone and show will something until he settled down again.  SO SWEET!!!!

15 months old!

Wow - I have no idea why this is going so fast!! SLOW DOWN!!!  Everyday gets better and better with this little boy.  His little personality is amazing - not a day goes by where I don't crack up over some silly little thing with him.  Here are some highlights!

Likes:  Eating cereal out bowl with a spoon and fork, dancing with his arms, playing basketball, walking up and down Kenmore picking all the flowers, shoulder rides, going outside and letting us know that he wants to be outside (bangs on the door and brings my keys to the door), hitting the garage door opener, petting dogs

Dislikes: When we don't let him go outside at 6am in the morning :)
